Kyriakos Mortarakos exhibits paintings and drawings of various dimensions, referencing rooms and spaces without openings, with allusions to his previous body of work. The artist focuses on the interaction between the “inside” and the “outside”, offering highlights of different responses to everyday stimuli, along with his own visual and textual writing. Our times are currently dominated by sorrow, moaning, misery, sadness, people appear gloomy and melancholic as if they are mourning because of the crisis. The artist himself says, “I remember in earlier times of sadness, people used to cover the paintings and mirrors of their home with a black cloth.”
