Invariably, when people - not unjustly - call me a painter, sculptor, or visual artist, seeing what I do and translating it into a quality, I react, repeating that I don't feel like a painter, sculptor, visual artist, or writer… I am “my need” to talk about darkness, in times illuminated with “exaggeration”! Every time, I use tools and materials to hide or “reveal” elements that we carry and weigh us down, when they should make us lighter and happier.

“A Rainbow in the Darkness”, is the title of my new exhibition in the wonderful city of Trikala… It is a set of visual ideas that were gathered with the aim of proving that Art can reside everywhere, that art is not only to be hung on walls, but is also applied to objects of everyday use, covering surfaces and corners… Painting and sculptural ideas aiming to express the need for contact, the need to feel each other, to enjoy something “common” and through the dance of the senses to bring the “human being” back, who we lost because of our own indifference and our own failure, choosing the lifestyle of the “unnecessary” and not the “necessary”.

Our choice of the unnecessary has altered our basic characteristics: We have eyes and we do not see each other. We have ears and we only hear our “I"s. We have hands, but we no longer seek the pleasure of touch. We have forgotten the joy that lies in caress, the joy of contact, the double power that lies in the dance of “two” on a common purpose, aiming at an “us”!

“A rainbow in the dark” that has spread around us to showcase the intensity of the loss of the “essential”… Looking at my artistic ideas, you can easily distinguish oversized conduits of sensations. It is time to hear whispers again, to see the “superiority” of others again and not the trash of “our own success”, to touch even the most distant of things, to kiss and be kissed in order to be conquered, and to conquer the lost starry sky of true relationships, to fly, to soar, to abolish with our senses the laws of gravity that sink us and prevent us from taking off!
